The 83 team was such fun, perhaps the most fun second half of the season ever. We also had the All Star game which seemed to kick start that blazing 2nd half of the season. If not for the very tough luck losses in the playoffs would have been a perfect season.

Indeed, Vince. Absent the satisfaction of the Pennant/World Series win, `83 was an epic season. I attended dozens of games that summer, reveling in the first real sense of a Chicago championship of any kind in my memory up to that point. I particularly remember games when Bannister pitched, and we hung those "K" signs in the upper deck of the outfield. A youthful summer that included me proposing to my wife at a picnic before a White Sox game. What a summer full of memories!
And we were so close. The name "Tito Landrum" can still conjure up the vision of drawing the shades in my basement and sitting alone in the darkness after one of the most disappointing baseball games of my life. Had we prevailed in that last game of the playoffs, we had Lamarr Hoyt ready to shut them down. So very, very close. Thank God for 2005.

My favorite White Sox team of all time (sans the playoff defeat to Baltimore). Cruz was my favorite player (I was so pissed when Tony B. was traded though).
